The "life after" post

I've had my braces off for seven months now, and am LOVING it! Looking back, all the discomfort was worth it. So, for those of you who are currently enduring the challenges of sore gums, cheeks and lips, I'm telling you to hang in there!  I STILL haven't had my permanent bonded retainer placed. Nope, I'm enjoying life to the fullest with a retainer I take off during the day and put on every night.  It's working out GREAT! At some point, I'll most likely have the retainers put on, but I'm still enjoying the whole "nothing in my mouth" freedom feeling.

I hope all of you are doing well!

  1. Your journey to straight teeth was a long and winding journey, but it was definitely worth it. When you have straight teeth, your self-confidence is given a boost and you’ll want to share your beautiful smile. I'm so glad that you're happy with the results. Just enjoy the whole "nothing in your mouth" feeling for now and keep smiling every single day. Thanks for the encouragement, Barbara! :)

  2. After having bracers for the better part of 2 years, I’d say having removable retainers is a welcome option. If nothing else, it’s easier to eat without them, and even easier to clean your teeth afterwards. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us!

  3. I know this is an older blog but I have to ask...I am 6 months pregnant and just got fitted for my 6 month smile braces which should be ready in about 1 month. This is my second pregnancy and I feel great, just worried about not being able to take anything for the pain during the first couple of weeks having my braces on. Am I crazy for going through with 6 month smile while pregnant, should I really consider just waiting?

    1. Hi, I stumbled upon this blog and saw your comment.
I recommend checking with your gynaecologist on how much of what painkiller you can take in your first trimester; my hunch is that the painkillers you might use for the aches, won't affect your baby. But still safer to check.

There are probably other pregnant women who've gotten braces while pregnant. If not, you could be a pioneer!! :D

I wish you and your family good health, contentment and all the best

  4. I know it’s been a while now, but I’m happy for you! Going through that journey is both fun and painful. Getting your lips scratched by the wires and the brackets do hurt, right? On the other hand, it's also an interesting experience since you've got anecdotes that only people who've had braces will understand. And now, after going through all that hardship, you can finally be confident with your smile! ;)
